Looking for any input on your AC use we have a new Scamp 13' on the way in March we did not get the AC added but it's pre wired if i want to add it later. For the people how have AC on there Scamps do you use them a lot or is it just added weight. I guess it depends on if i person uses camp grounds or boondocks. Take Care

AC use ?
Duane, I ordered the AC. Don't know how much we will use it, BUT, if we need it , we got it. You are right that it adds more weight, so TV comes into play.
Resale with AC might also be a consideration?

Whatever you decide about AC or no-AC, be sure to order the Fantastic fan. We do most of our camping in fields at music festivals so no electricity. The Fantastic fan pulls out hot air in late afternoon (who's in the camper during the day anyway?) and pulls in cool air at night. My new-to-me 16' has an AC unit but I've only used the Fantastic fan.

I don't have practical experience to relate since I have only just picked up my Scamp and didn't order AC (I don't have it at home, so I know I'll be fine.) Apparently Scamp has begun using Maxxfan. When I looked at Scamps last fall I saw a different fan than the one that is in my new 13. It actually has 10 speeds, pulls air in, out, or circulates air inside and has it's own remote control. It can also be programmed to go on at a certain temperature that you select. It sure seems to move air really well.
Really depends on how and where you will Camp. It is getting impossible to go to S Fla and other popular areas in season, but shoulder seasons are available. You will not be going to those places in shoulder seasons without AC. If you don't ever want to stay in some of those areas and you will only be using for cool climates then no AC works, but most definitely get pre-wired because it will affect resale.

I have the AC and use it throughout the summer when camping in the area (Ozarks). If I was using my scamp in an area that doesn't cool down enough at night you defiantly would want it. Also sometimes I leave my dogs in the camper for a few hours side trip. They seem to appreciate the cool air for their afternoon naps.
We have a new 16 Deluxe on order for May. I'm interested to know if any other new owners found a Maxxfan installed in their new rig rather than a Fantastic Fan. We added the Maaxair cover with our order but were offered nothing different for the fan itself.
All Scamps get Maxx fans now they said something about people needed a cover for their Fantastic fan but they were hard to find. I have no experience with ether one but i'm sure both are just as good just Maxx fan offers a cover. Thank You for comments on AC. Take Care
Have Scamp will travel !
The switch to Maxx must be really new as we got the FantasticFan in our 16 Std in November. They called ours a 2017 model, so perhaps they're putting MaxxAir's in the 2017 and 1/2 models. We did get the Maxx cover over our FantasticFan as Scamp didn't have the new FantasticFan cover..
Wonder what else is new for 2017?
I have written an Email to Scamp, asking that same question. No reply so far. I will post if it ever comes!!!!!
