New Scamp on Order for 2017

My first post on the forum and have been reading a number of other posts getting ready for our new adventure. We have a 16 deluxe ordered with an estimated May pickup. We plan on following others advice to camp in the area before heading home to central Illinois.

Our thought process started almost a year ago having spotted a Scamp 16 in our neighborhood one evening. We spoke with that owner who was happy to show off his new Scamp. Additionally we corresponded with Scamp HQ and found another in our area to view. Late in the summer we decided to head north to take our factory tour, kick the tires and make our down payment.

Everyone’s camping style is unique and for us we added all the comfort items now rather than look at attempting add-ons later. The 16 deluxe with front bath worked for us but we chose to delete the tiny corner sink to help make a little more room. Yes, we took others advice to heart and added extra outlets, lights, vinyl flooring, rear tail lights and so forth. When we toured a unit at the factory with the new TV mounted we added that as well.

I really appreciate the thought others have put into the forum and helping one another figure out fixes and modifications as they arise. Thanks to all.

Oh yes, and finally our tow vehicle is a 2014 Frontier 4x2 with tow package. When it gets a little warmer here in Illinois I will add the brake controller. The hitch height seems to be anywhere from 18 to 21 inches but I guess if I hit somewhere in the middle I can fine tune that once I get home.

The wife and I wish all the very best for a new year!

Congratulations

On your soon to be hatched Scamp and welcome to the clubhouse!

Exciting and May is a great month to be breaking a new trailer in. You sound like you have covered the bases and will love the new 16.

16 ft scamp

Looking forward to our first camper to be picked up in March. This will be new to us. Both in our early 70's with a 50 lb. young standard poodle as a side kick. Will be pulling with an 08 Honda Ridgeline with 78 thousand miles on it. All fluids and brakes will be changed before pickup. Should be interesting. Taking a lot from the forums.

Congratulations, I hope to

Congratulations, I hope to order a new trailer some day, if and when I decide to full-time. For now it's modifying my 1999 13 footer. I'm sure you will love your new Scamp.

Congratulations and welcome to you as well, Jim. I had a Standard Poodle may years ago, "Hap" short for Happy. Loved that dog.

Another 16' with a Standard Poodle

Our just two year old 60 lb. Paddy (Paddington) loves to camp with us although he takes up a good part of the bed. Sometimes, he climbs in before it's made.

He is, however, very helpful with meal clean-up, providing excellent plate pre-wash service.

Congratulations on your new Scamp.  Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

You shall miss that tidy

You shall miss that tidy little sink, as shaving and tooth brushing in the kitchen sink gets old and very uncomfortable. Once we had our sink in the bath installed, I was truly a happy camper.

Sink

We did give it our attention when we visited the factory and had time to climb around inside a deluxe that was waiting for it's new owner. That little sink made it tough to stand up or turn around in the limited space for the toilet/shower. I guess once you have scamped in one the little extras are noticed when missing. I appreciate your thoughts on the subject. :)

I've just got to say that Paddy's a cutie and I bet a great camping companion!

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,

We eliminated the corner sink

We eliminated the corner sink in our 2014 build as well. We keep our tooth brushes and  whatnots in our travel cases/my case, shaving bag. We use paper cups to brush our teeth. A basin to wash up with , if we don't shower in the camper. Most times we shower in the CG facilities. We have a small three legged table that sits flat against the wall under the shower head, that the basin sits on top to wash up. we take it down when we travel or shower in camper.  Carl

See you in Minnesota

We will pick up our 13 standard/big bed in May and also plan to camp locally before heading back to Mid-Missouri.  I hope we run into you.  We'll be the newly retired couple with the Whippet.
