If you are looking for a new Tow Vehicle for your Scamp; Tesla's Model X could be a real contender...
Towing capabilities on Tesla's Model X are impressive, and well capable of towing a Scamp 13 or 16.

Depending on your Scamping Style, Tesla could be a very exciting option !!!
Even for Full-timers, just think of all the money you could save !!!!
Here's another perspective. Doesn't look like I will be getting a Tesla to be my tow vehicle anytime soon!

While at we were camping at rainbow Falls Provincial Park in Canada this July we met a couple from British Columbia who called themselves “TeslaXCanada” Team to promote clean energy. They were crossing Canada totally without gasoline. They drive an all-electric Tesla Model X and pull a solarized Alto Safari Condo Teardrop trailer made in Quebec. Not an inexpensive combination, but they were enthusiastic about future clean energy possibilities and living their enthusiasm.
I read with great interest the article mentioned above...
Two things stand-out from the article:
First, the Author drove 1,000 miles (round trip) in a Tesla, pulling a camper and he spent ZERO Dollars on Fuel !!!!
I don't know about you; but I have NEVER filled up my Tow Vehicle and spent ZERO Dollars !!!!
Second, the Author drove 1,000 miles pulling a camper, equivalent in size and weight to a Scamp, and he did not have any issues related to the Tesla being capable of towing the camper (even through the mountains).
Additionally, the Author drove 500 miles to only stay one or two nights at his destination, also, the author was not a seasoned Camper (owing to his rental of the trailer). Admittedly, the trip was more of a "Test Drive" than an actual "Camping Trip".
The article focused mostly on refueling the Tesla and experiencing "Range Anxiety" while pulling a Camper with a Tesla. The article also pointed out a few shortcomings with the design of Tesla's "Super Charging" stations which manifest themselves when pulling a trailer, shortcomings which can be easily overcome by adding a couple of "Pull-through" charging stations at every "Super Charger" location. Are you listening Elon Musk ?
As I mentioned in my first post, your Scamping style may, or may not, be compatible with using a Tesla as your Tow Vehicle, however, a little bit better planning by the Author might have made his trip a little bit more enjoyable. For example: the Author might have scheduled an overnight stay in a campground where he could charge his Tesla to 100% before starting his daily drive. Also, some Scampers may limit their daily drive to less than 200 miles, this would be well within the range of your Tesla when pulling a Scamp.
I must admit, if I had a 500 mile trip and I was only spending one or two nights at my destination, I would probably NOT tow the Camper, but would instead, stay in a hotel room, simply put, towing the camper would not be worth the effort to tow it for such a short stay.
Bottom line; the Author proved that the Tesla is MORE than capable of towing a Scamp and that Tesla's "Super Charging" stations are placed strategically well enough to make a long distance trip, even when towing a Camper (even a 16 foot Scamp).
If I were looking for a new Tow Vehicle to tow a Scamp (or other fiberglass RV) I would seriously consider the Tesla!!
Just think how cool it would be to pay ZERO dollars for fuel !!!!
As Always,
Happy Scamping !!!
Guess I am missing something in my education.....don't they have to pay to use the charging station?

One of the great things about owning a Tesla is that Tesla Owners do not have to pay to use Tesla's "Super Charger" network. They can get their fuel for Free !!!! There may be a fee to use a charging station that is not one of Tesla's "Super Chargers", but, those fees are usually only a few dollars (less than $8).
As Always,
Happy Scamping !!!
Thank you. I did not realize that they did not have to pay every where.
