Hello to all that frequent this website. Yup, we’re new, so new we still haven’t taken delivery of our retirement wheels. Been retired for a few years, but decisions don’t go without research. The only regret was that it takes months for Scamp to ‘deliver” on their orders. But when business is good I guess that’s a good thing as “Martha S” would claim. Yet, I have to wonder if they will bump up the order as time goes by. Perhaps, but then on to some other questions I’m hopeful you can assist with. This extra times allows me to address a few items in equipping this new vehicle with some essentials, like electric brakes, etc.
It’s a Scamp 16, so I am curious about the dimensions of three items:
- The measurement of the side table, and the main dinette table.
- Approximate measurement where a microwave is normally inserted (nope I’m not paying $250.00 Scamps cost of)
- Do you use a tray/on receiver for storage items or tools. What works for you?
I’ve made inquiring from Scamp twice for specs, but still not addressed. Boo hoo ;-(
Finally, those four inch cushions. Probably fine for sitting, but sleeping. What are you doing to make this more comfortable for sleeping? Single layer airbed or mattress comes to mind, but I would definitely be curious to hear your experiences.
Tickled pink that I found your site. Thank you.

OK, Doug here, owner of pristine 16 ft. Scamp and we just love it. The dimensions of the side dinette are fine for us, as we are rather small people. It also converts to a bed. We purchased on Amazon memory foam mattress pads and they are wonderful. Required trimming, but worked out fine.On our tongue of our trailer sits 2 LP tanks and a battery, that's it. My tool box sits inside, in the closet to your right as you enter the Scamp. I hope you got the shower/potty option, I think it is layout 6. We have the side dinette with the front shower/potty/sink. We also have the Fantastic Fan and AC. Depending on where you live, the heater too is nice. We have that as well. Do not get the micro wave from Scamp. Have them wire in the receptacle and just go to Manards or Wal Mart and get a $39.00 micro wave. Also, a outside AC outlet is great too. Get your trailer wired for cable too. Most or all 16's have trailer brakes and we have them as well. Get the awning too, you will not be dissappointed. Its wonderful.

Wondering if you recall the mattress that you purchased Flyboy? Amazon has so many to choose from , would appreciate any details that you have. Thanks.
The side table on ours measures 33&1/2" by 23". The rear table measures 32" out from rear wall &29&3/4 wide. When the table is in the bed position, a insert is added to make the bed come out from the rear wall 45". Will get the measurement of the microwave cabinet tomorrow.

Hi, as for the beds, we just use a couple of good quality sleeping bags. One down on the cushions and one to cover with, snug as a bug. In summer just one sleeping bag down and a sheet to cover with. We find the cushions to be fine to sleep on. We do not want a permanent bed, we make it up each day, that way we have plenty of flat space fo use as counters. We use the micro wave cabinet as storage. We hardly use micro wave at home so do not need it to camp. We take an electric pot and toaster oven and the O grill for outside so we covered. Good luck. sharing has been helpful in issues we are trying to address beforehand. Also prompted an addition to the trailer ordered. Won't happen until early fall, and not knowing their practices I doubt it will surface any earlier than expected date. Still from everything I'm hearing, it's with great anticipation. Again, thank you and if you think of anything else.... I will be reading.
Do you still have time to call the factory for changes to your upcoming Scamp? I hope you got it loaded with options. The extras make for much enjoyable camping and travel.

With the Scamp 16 Deluxe, there is enough that we only added what we felt essential to our lifestyle. The TV etc. nope, we aren't watchers. I did however add the exterior AC as you suggested Doug. thank you!
Great! Deluxe Scamps are gorgeous. Did you get the Fantastic Fan? AC? Retractable step under door? Screen door? Awning?

Make sure you get at least one DC outlet, I thought they would include one, but not the case. I just do not know enough about electric to install one myself, so i got to wait to find someone reasonable to add one for me. carl
We cut down a 3" mattress topper we had and were no longer using to fit the rear dinette and side dinette beds. Very comfy. I recently got a 2" mattress topper to use on the side dinette bed since it will roll up smaller and we put that one away. The rear we almost always leave in bed form.
We got the under door step for our Scamp 16 but find it almost useless as it does not come out very far from the trailer and we always use a small step stool instead. Also the slinky tube on the front of the trailer from the factory is too short to hold a usefully long sewer line and I keep the sewer supplies in a 5 gal Home Depot bucket instead.
Happy Scamping!
