RV Insurance

I'm interested to hear peoples thoughts on where to go for RV insurance. I'm getting a new 13ft Scamp in August so I have time to shop around. I can add the coverage to my auto policy (Allstate)  but I'd like to know what others use. Do you have roadside assistance with towing? Extra liability? What level of coverage?

Thank...

Insurance

We have USAA but not all can do that company. One note, on your auto policy the trailer is covered when it is on the hitch or towing without any addl insurance. We just add a comprehensive only policy to cover storage and camping. You want to make sure roadside includes flatbed and RV towing.

Good Sam Insurance

Good Sam has a policy which is a little higher than their normal policy that will replace your trailer if totaled with a new trailer for the first five years after purchase. After that they will pay you what you paid for your trailer. They also cover $3K of your trailers contents. Their RV roadside policy, and sicknesss on the road are separate policies.

RV Insurance--Roadside Assistance

We use AAA RV for Roadside Assistance. The "RV" portion covers both the Tow Vehicle and the Trailer. Coverage also includes up to two tow trucks to pull you out if you get stuck somewhere. I think AAA has two or three tiers of insurance, we have the highest level they offer.

We also get one tow up to 300 miles (one per year) .

Peace-of-mind while on the road.

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

I assumed I needed to get insurance on our Scamp even though it is paid for.  I got $9k coverage for $98 per year added to my auto insurance.

We too have the RV Plus from

We too have the RV Plus from AAA and it has worked out fine. Covers tow vehicle and trailer. We have had tires changed while on the interstate.
