Scamp hasn't released a new model trailer since 1981 when they added the 19 Scamp. The 13 Scamp was originally produced in 1972 followed by the 16 Scamp in 1978. No one can argue with their continued success and popularity, but if Scamp were to release a new model what would you like the new model to be?

New Model Scamp?
Receiving no comments - does it mean that everybody is perfectly happy with the Scamp product line?
They cover the sub-twenty foot range quite well and probably do not want to go any bigger. I do not know what model they could add. Conversely, if they decided to simplify their product line, they might be tempted to drop the one they sell the fewest of. That one, I imagine, is the 19 or 19D and I hope they would not do that. I really like mine.

It is surprising that everyone seems content so far on this. I know the Casita folks have been grumbling for awhile about Casita releasing something larger with a dual axle.

Hi Greg,
"If its not broke, don't try to fix it." There is usually a waiting list for new Scamp trailers. I would hope Eveland never decides to drop a model to make room for a new larger, more complicated model. There are many of us out here who desire (need) a small RV.
There are lots of us out here that do not think bigger is better. We LOVE our "Lil Critter". It lets us do exactly what we need to do to empty our bucket list. We would have never pulled a larger trailer north of the Alaskan Arctic Circle or over the Arizona Superstition Mountains Apache Trail, or the most beautiful, interesting (to us so far) road so far in America...the Montana/Wyoming Beartooth Highway. Our 13 foot "Lil Critter" has let us afford to see North America from, the Mohave Desert to Newfoundland and Labrador. We have stayed in Canadian RV parks that are like parking on a golf coarse green (no gravel or concrete in sight) to tent sites in State or National Parks.
Once, when Bevie got to feeling poorly and needed to get off of the road NOW, a large commercial RV Park let us use one of their tent sites when they were completely full and had nothing else available. The Scamp fit the site perfectly and the 15 amp 110 volt outlet there ran our little air conditioner and kept my best half reasonably comfortable until she kicked that bug. Would never have happened in a larger rig.
I could go on and on about the need for this family to have a small simple RV that is inexpensive to pull and easy to maintain. Let the other companies have the "big rig" market.
By the way, in my not so humble opinion, I think the beautiful Escapes are the start of the "big rig" category of RVs .... big grin! :>) I am sure I will certainly enjoy the shade from your rig some day.

We think we had a Bob n Bev sighting in Big Bend NP in TX not too long ago. Was that you guys?
I don't think Scamp would ever eliminate the 13 and not sure how this post got that direction. That's their bread n butter. Just been a lot of discussion lately if Scamp/Casita would add any models. I have heard the Casita rumors of eliminating the 13 Patriot and the 16 to make room on the line for a possible new model. The 13 was never a good seller for Casita though, I think the Scamp ate em up on that one.
I'd agree with the Escapes starting to move into the "big rig" category, not sure the 19 is in that group, but the 21 and 5.0 TA are getting there. But we're always happy to provide the Lil Critter with some shade when you're in our neck of the woods.

Ok Bob,I agree on the cuteness of your 13ft but I disagree with the simple part.I saw all your neat gadgets you have insalled in that small space and love em! You did a great job but its not some little simple home away from home, its set up with all the goodies you can fit in there. Made it very liveable

i would love to see mag wheels on the trailer instead of those lousy looking white wheels subject to rusting. I think more storage inside would be good. A better power converter too (we fixed that), USB plugs in add addition to,the regular outlets ( we ordered them too), LED lighting throughout, more drain tube holders (putting one in as seen on the Forum).

I would worry that if they introduced a new model, they would discontinue an old model, probably the 13 - like Escape discontinued the 15. They cannot keep up with production now, so adding an additional model would probably mean something else would have to give.
Casita has eliminated the standard version of their 13, and from what I have read, they attempt to pressure anyone who wants to order a 13 into a larger model. My guess is that the Patriot will not be part of their line-up for long.
Our salesman at Casita when we picked up our 16ft in Oct,told us that they were strongly thinking of dropping the 16ft line.I dont know if its true or not but that is what Johathon told us

I would like an extra inch in interior height and about 4 inches in interior width. A slideout anyone?

So Don,
Sounds like you want them to not add a new model, but to improve the 16 mold to allow the extra width and height. A model enhancement we'll call it.
