Nancie,

Congratulations on your future Scamp purchase.  Here is just a couple of minor additions for you to consider if you wish to have done or ordered done on your Scamp before it is born.  This is my personal wishes that had been done, others may not agree but hopefully I will give you food for thought. The information I am giving you is from making our trip to Alaska in 2014 and 12, 500 miles all at one time and you learn a lot from a trip like that.  Again, this is only from a previous buyers experiences.

1) Consider (1) LP fuel tank.  We used (2) tanks of fuel in 72 continuous days and the added weight on the tongue is not really worth having and it is easier to raise and lower the tongue of your trailer when hooking up etc. with only one tank.  You will get aggravated with two tanks, your hands will get scraped knuckles unless you do as I did in the suggestions I have made on this forum. 

2) Have Scamp install the (Extra Storage cupboard) above your dinning table that goes from one side to the other.  You will be grateful for this in the end.  You will have minimize storage inside for long trips, we found that out, here is photos of what I did AFTER our 12,500 mile trip.  These cupboard below I made myself to fit, they sure add a lot of storage for sure. 

3) Install the screen door if you already haven't ordered that, it is a life saver on hot days or any day you wish to have fresh air and no bugs or anything coming in the Scamp uninvited. 

4) Have scamp reinforce your roof for a (9000 btu) air conditioner which is quieter and more efficient for cooling your little trailer.  This is priority on my list in the future.  Mine is Dometic 13, 500 and the loudest darn thing ever inside that little space trying to watch TV or anything even just talking.  I do not like the darn ole ugly AC unit on the scamp, it takes away from the daintiness of the camper.  On the right is a low profile AC unit but not sure if it is the 9000 unit or not.  Have your new scamp reinforced to take this extra weight, which is minimal to me but what do I know.  anyhow be sure when the build your Scamp that it is reinforced for new AC unit.

5) Have all interior and exterior lights made (LED). I had to remove my scamp light fixture and put in LED lights similar to the shape of the manufacture lights you get and it was cheaper than getting just the LED bulbs.  Plus I added 1 more new light on the left side of the camper over the bed and one over the screen door when it is locked.  That light offers light to look in the large storage area next to the bathroom.  Even the brake and side marker lights should all be LED"S, this will save on your battery big time as far as the interior light as we have the bigger battery.  We have since changed out their bigger battery for a better 1200 amp hr battery that just fits in the box.  The led lights sure do not pull much current and are brighter. This is all up to you though.

6)  Install a back splash behind the stove area to prevent cooking oils etc. damaging and making a mess of the rat fur behind the stove area.  I have yet to do this, we do most our cooking outside when ever possible using the George Forman outside and inside when we are shore power connected.

7) Put (SEALING) collars around all septic waste that go through the floor underneath the camper.  Be assured they have treated the wooden floor from underneath from rot from wetness and age.

8) Replace FOAM entrance door sealing with rubber gasket material that Scamp now has.  The foam breaks down, holds moisture and leak like heck, I have to do this job as well too.  

9) Install secure shore power connection in place of (Mouse Hole) that allows bugs, mice etc, into camper!!  YOu will thank me for this one. As you can see this hole in the side of camper is an invite to lots of problems which is totally unacceptable to me.

10) Have scamp install a fantastic fan vent cover over your fan so you can use your fan in the rain etc.  Otherwise you can't and also this allows you to vent out your trailer when traveling in the heat with the vent open and protected from air circulation from traveling.  We painted the inside of our fantastic fan cover black so that when we do have it closed when cool out and want to sleep in, it is dark inside as we like it to be to sleep.  We have also blocked off our windows for security at night as well as if we wish to take naps in the day time, (retiree's do that) we can and everything is quite dark to rest as you body likes to do. 

There is lots of information on the Modifications section of this forum, great ideas by all, especially Greg.  Hope you have great experiences with your new Egg.  Note, Mfg. may not include any of these changes for you, but you are the buyer and none of theese upgrades are out of the way for asking.  Good Luck, sorry to make such a long post for you.
