Production Start Call

I finally got my long expected call from Dave at the Scamp factory, that my 16' is on the production line and scheduled to be ready for delivery on October 7th. Great news...but we cannot be there on the 7th because our grand daughter is getting married on October 9th in Los Angeles, CA. Yeah, some things do take precedence over picking up a new Scamp. But I did coordinate with both Dave and Wayne for a pickup date of Oct 15th. It was 21 weeks from order date to completion date, plus another week and a day to fit the pickup into our schedule. Anxiously awaiting for two marvelous events!

Production Call

mustang 26,

My wife and I have a 13 on order, we scheduled an April completion date.  My question is, did you make any changes to your original order?  If you did make a change,  Was it verbally on the phone or will you receive a hard copy to validate and return?

We are excited for you. October will be a great month for you, two wonderful events!

We are considering changes to our order.  We are seriously considering changing from a Standard to a Deluxe with a front dinette and a 54" bed.  We still have few months to decide.

Change Orders

I made two changes, verbally by phone, and a hard copy was sent to me. No requirement for validation and return.  Absolutely no problems with my changes, Wayne was very accomodating and easy to work with. Considering the Deluxe option, we elected no, due to the additional cleaning effort on the wood surfaces (FG is really easy to clean), and the additional weight (in excess of 200 pounds).  Best wishes on your choices, many people love the Deluxe version but it was just not for us, so we used the extra dollars and extra weight towards other more desireable options.

I changed options four times.

I changed options four times.  My salesman did not seem to like it when I did but he went along with it.

I get the idea that no changes will usually be accepted after you get the call from the production manager but before that, its only paperwork.

Note that I am talking about adding or subtracting options only.  Some very custom changes like adding a window will likely be denied on the rational that they wont work out, or are too much trouble to do when they are at maximum production levels.

Also changing from a standard to a deluxe might have some effect on your place in line.  At the least, I would expect it would add some weeks to your timeline.  But you would have to ask them.  I wish I had ordered a deluxe now, but I am in too deep so staying with my standard which I wil have before the snow comes.

All changes were made via phone, and followed up with a new itemized quote in the mail.  (Sometimes they emailed one in addition).

October pick up

I went to the Scamp Factory the last week of September quite a few years ago. It seems most of the campgrounds in that area turn off and drain their waterlines the first of October.

I have owned a few Scamps, my current trailer is a S-16 DX, FP(A). We like the big bed, large counter space and the large front window. The bath is tight and I have to modify the front cabinet so a person over 5' tall can sleep up front but overall we like this floor plan the best.

Anyone going to the Scamp

Anyone going to the Scamp factory can stay in their Scamp over night at the gas station/restaurant across the street. Folks there are very nice and do not mind at all. A good gas stop too.

I've already made plans to

I've already made plans to stay at Ruttger's right down the road the last weekend of this month.  Its Scamp recommended and right down the road.

I'll keep your suggestion as a back-up (its so nice of them to offer) but Bill at Rutthers said I did not even need to worry about reservations because they will be almost empty by then. Its just so foreign to me to think the camping season is about over before the end of September, but that's only because I live in the south. September and October are prime camping months here.
