Note to self: Don't get so excited next time.

Scamp is a unique company.. , kinda like some people are “special.”

I was looking over the Scamp website and found the inventory of current trailers available. Maybe a result of buyers who changed their minds.  I found one that was the same layout I have on order, but mine is not expected to be ready for more than three more months.  It was the exact same trailer I ordered except it had the furnace that I passed on and did not have the bike hitch, which I was fine with giving up.

So with great excitement and anticipation that I could get the trailer three months early, and still have time this summer to enjoy it, I shot an email off to Scamp.

Of course there reply was that the trailer was not available.  Yet, here we are more than a week later and it is still showing as available in their inventory:

Isn’t that special!

So the lesson is.. don’t get exited if you think you have found your Scamp.. not till you actually have it.

I saw that

I was on their site the other day and I noticed that camper was there also,if its been sold or whatever why dont they take it off. I wasnt interested in it but would have been upset if I were and thought I had found what we wanted and they told us that

If it were any other company

If it were any other company I might have been upset.. but I know that, Tech wise, it was only last month that Scamp  gave up on the Abacus for calculating trailer cost, and tin cans connected with string for communication ; )

I fully expected the web site inventory to be out of date.

Scamp Available

Did they know you had one on order when you asked? If so, maybe they didn't want you to cancel your order and take that one. Maybe someone calling that has nothing on order would get a different answer, or maybe they just use the trailer inventory to generate calls.

A Fan Of Their Website

Well, as a fan of their website, those two listed in stock, exact two, have been listed that way since they did the new website.  I know it has been at least a year and maybe two years.  I have never seen any other units appear there over that time period.  I think they may be "bait" in a way to get you interested or just "eye candy".

I wondered that same thing

I had wondered that same thing, that if they knew you had one on order and didnt want that one canceled or something, but on the other hand,Cathy is right, those same two have been listed on there forever now,tho I had not given it much thought. Also I was going to comment on the fact that they are saying no front windows in the bathrooms anymore because of leakage.I am a friend of Scamps on FaceBook and they post pic's of people coming in to pick up their new scamps and I noticed yesterday that the one the couple was picking up,had the same front bath window as ours,so now I am wondering about that. Husbands just going to have to call them if he is serious about trading up to a 16 {just to keep from making and teariing down the bed each day} I might be more agreeable to that if we could get the front bath window,he said that he would put one in for me but I would just as soon have it all done when one picked it up.

RE: Note to self: Don't get so excited next time

I made it clear when I ordered that I was flexible and open to seeing what was available before mine was built.. and when I asked about the one on the website, I mentioned that it was almost the exact same as I had on order.

What I especially liked was the price they listed for it !!!!

I hope they don’t get in trouble for false advertising.  All they need to do is add a disclaimer that the listed stock is only representave and might not reflect current availability.

BTW, if your looking to a 16 Std layout 4.. if by chance I decide its too much for me to tow, then I will be looking to trade it for a 13. So stay tuned.

Layout 6

Thanks Gordon but if we do decide to trade up,it would be for the layout 6 with the front bath. The 13 really works well for us and the one small dog but its just making the bed up and down all the time and with the side dinette we wouldnt have to do that, sometimes we leave home and go for 14 hours before we stop and it would just be nice to just go crawl in bed instead of having to make it down ha..When do you get your new Scamp? You will be so ready for it by the time they give you the exact date you wont be able to stand it :-)

Awning

Earlene,

Did you get an awning? Once we put a bag awning on our 81 13 Scamp we never used the dinette inside and just left it as a permanent bed. Did all our eating and lounging outside under the awning.

Yes I am thinking the same

Yes I am thinking the same thing.. the bed stays a bed all the time, unless I get company in a rain storm, and I use the front sofa with a folding table.  I never used the dinette in my pop-up. Didn't even carry it once. A small folding table worked very well. I'm a little worried that it might be too much in the way by the door with the bathroom on the side, but I'll make it work.. around Sept 21st.

Folding table

I use a small folding table in front of the gaucho in my 13 so I can leave my bed down full time. Works great for indoor meals and for prep/dish washing station. When not in use it folds and fit perfectly against the wall next to the door.
