Scamp Specific Tools ??

How I will survive I do not know.  My pop-up sold real fast and now I can’t focus on anything else, can’t sleep.   I only live for the day a few months from now, when I can get my Scamp ;)

Since I cannot seem to do anything else right now other than make plans, I am going through my RV toolbox, trying to lighten it up by removing un-needed stuff.

So my question for you is, what should I keep or add to the toolbox specifically for the Scamp (16 Std BTW). I have seen the advice to have a deep socket to get the spare off and I have that covered.  What about rivets?  Should I carry some spares with a gun when I am 1200 miles away from home with a new Scamp?  What else would you suggest, outside of the typical RV toolbox items?

BTW, I have to find an antidote for this drug or I will burn out before my Scamp is built!

Toolbox

This is a good thread to start. Could be quite interesting what gets suggested. A lot of this you may already have in your existing kit.

  1. Roll of butyl tape-Indispensable for field leak repairs and also can be used to stick things termporarily to fiberglass. wink
  2. Rivets/gun as you suggested. The various sizes used.
  3. Acorn nuts
  4. Several of each spare fuses
  5. Wire, wire nuts, electrical tape
  6. Multimeter-should never leave home without one.
  7. 3M 4200 Marine caulk - Never use Silicone on Molded Fiberglass trailers.
  8. Spare bulbs for each exterior/interior light

Ok enough to start, we'll see what else gets added.

Not a tool but spare parts...

Not a tool but spare parts...

I carry an extra hand water pump, an extra sewer dump cap, extra lens for tail lights and running lights, extra water pressure reducer (it's easy to forget and leave on the campground faucet).  That's it for starters, I know there are several other items as I'm generally always prepared.

Hey, something great to have are water faucet handles.  As you can see there are 3 different ones as well as  4 more on the cross bar.  Then the green item is a "water thief" with a hose clamp and a quick connect on the hose side.  I carry these because some campgrounds take the handles off at season end and then some faucets don't have theads so the "water thief" comes in handy.  Prior to getting the handles I used a vise grip but didn't like the idea of possibly harming the faucet so off to the hardware store I went to find out what I'd need for just about any faucet.

Bearing Stuff

A container with a set of greased bearings & races and some inner seals. A hammer and brass drift pin. On trailers W/O brakes, I carry a spare spindle with greased bearings and nut and cotter pin (In an ammo can).

Always have a roll of duct tape on hand.

We keep a separate toolbox for the SCAMP: it's small and red, of course!

Scamp Rivets

Scamp sells variety packs that should suffice.

Thanks Doug.. I dont see a variety pack in their online parts store:

http://www.scamptrailers.com/parts-store/rivets.html

but I can ask them about it.. I can also ask them if there is a “cheat sheet” that lists what size rivets are used in the different areas.

13/16" Deep Socket

Not sure about yours, but my spare tire requires a deep socket in order to remove the lug nuts that keep it on the spare tire holder.  The lug wrench in my TV isn't deep enough.  Glad I checked before I needed it!!
