mod to tongue

enclosed tongue and added more carrying space

pieces parts all welded together

deck plating fitted and cut out.   the hole in the middle isnt easy to figure  did alot of head scratching on that one.

i used 1 inch by 3 inch aluminum channal from the remnants pile at my local metal shop  i  bolted them in from the bottom of the 5 cross members only as not to drill in the tongue   these gave me something to rivet the deck plating to so as not to drill into the tongue either  then i sat the horizontal receiver on the 3 cross members  then placed the deck plating in place to determine where to bolt the receiver

after everything is fitted  bolted and riveted down

new battery box in place  i used a rivet in each corner to secure it to the deck plating  and into the 1 inch by 3 inch channel

the final finished project   my wife and i just went camping for the first time since the mod last week  we put two large coolers on top of the hitch carrier filled with beers, sodas, water, milk, orange and cranberry juice, and ice  no problem   oh yeah  it is a hitch carrier  i just cut a 2x2inch hole in the middle to fit over the receiver   i still can use it in the hitch of my truck if we dont take the camper   if any question let me know   thanks

Just Curious

Did you remove it/stove from the trailer or was it never on the trailer?

Removed Stove

I hear ya. We never used the stove in the 81 13 Scamp we had and when I did the kitchen remodel I removed it completely and put a large new countertop in. Loved the workspace we gained.

was told that the holding tanks go under the bed from the factory   how can the shower drain when they are the same level?  im gonna add a shower in the front where the factory would put it       have to find a material that repels water and is flexible and cheap  any suggestions? not sure if scamp sells just the floor insert for shower and toilet area?

Particular Plan In Mind?

Do you have a particular plan in mind?  I was just wondering if you found an example that you are following from the internet.  On the Scamp website, they do have an area for parts and show shower pan and other retailers sell them but they look rather expensive.

Fiberglass work

If you have experience with fiberglass, the advanced buildouts will glass wood blocks to the interior shell that then become the anchor points for shelves, cabinets, walls etc. and keep from drilling anything through the shell.
