Hello all,
We are seriously considering a new 16' standard, layout 6. We have decided to set it up with 6 gal gas/electric H2O heater, Fantastic fan, entry step, single propane tank, big reefer, no awning, rear receiver, microwave, etc. Is there anything we definitely need in your opinions. Since all of you have owned a Scamp longer than we have you should know what is needed and what isn't.

I probably should have been clearer with my original post. Other than what I have listed should we order on our new Scamp and what on the options list is a waste of money?

Definitely get a external AC outlet, porch light, light over the hitch, bike rack socket,

The porch light and rear receiver are on the preliminary list. We are wondering why an outdoor AC outlet is a necessity?

Outside AC very handy for external electrical needs. Outside TV, radio, other items.

Also, I am a ham radio operator and take my portable station on the road. I use it outdoors and the external AC is great. We also cook outside a lot at the picnic table and the outside plug is useful for the eletric skillet and griddle. You will find many uses for external AC outlet.

I've ordered my new Scamp 16 with the very options you have in mind. I can echo Doug's suggestion to add double propane and external AC outlet. I've ordered the awning and AC but the necessity for those items depends on personal preference. Since I plan a good deal of boondocking I've also opted for vinyl floor. Still wondering whether to order change to LED lighting or change them myself after taking delivery. I was concerned about visibilty of the trailer tail lights while carrying a bike since I anticipate traffic often coming up fast from behind so I ordered a second set of tail lights mounted above the mid seam.

Hi Charlie, you were certainly wise to order your Scamp as you did. Options are sure nice and over time, more of them mean more to you than some will immediately. We plan to keep our Scamp for many years, and the added options sure make life more enjoyable when out.

And, I orederd and installed LED bulbs throughout our Scamp, inside and out.
