Disappointed

I recently purchased a 13' Scamp and joined this forum as a "lifetime member" for $55. I have had 2 other RVs and I have to say that this is the first time I paid to be part of a forum and this is the lamest forum I have been a part of. The value of these forums is to share information and best practices, but so far my single post has gone unanswered. I looked at the other unanswered posts and there are more than any other forum I have been a part of. I don't know what the answer is but I am hoping folks will be more willing to chime in, even if they don't have an direct answer. The power of the forum is the community that forms around it. Please take the time to look at the posts and engage in conversations, if for no other reason than to form a community.

Respectfully, Pat

Wow

There is a long list of valuable information on here- best practices, modifications, safety, get togethers, answers to questions,  etc, etc, etc. There are many years of information and many many Scamp long term experts and many camping experts and lots of general RV/trailer experience on here... I  see what you are complaining about but I disagree. The folks on here do not stay online all the time. Our purpose is not the "e" world like many other online communities. Also, the Scamp community is a very small community. You didn't have to pay for anything to join this group. You've been a member for one week. Why not search the wealth of knowledge on here and step back a bit to observe and use this for the wonderful resource it is... respectfully...

Thank you for the reply

Carl, thank you for the reply. I am sorry if I came across too negative, that was not my intent. I was disappointed that many posts seemed to go unanswered (not just mine) and I was hoping for a vibrant community. I do appreciate you reaching out knocking some decorum into me. :-) I wish you well and happy scamping! Pat

Welcome Pat

I also hope I didn't come across sternly, that was not my intent either. I hope you find whatever you need on here and make some new friends. We are all Scampers!

Trying to help

Hi Pat,

Since no one answered your post, I am just guessing that your project has never been attempted.

I will not work on my Lil Critter's gas lines inside of the trailer.  I do not have the knowledge nor the correct tools.  For me, that is a job for a qualified professional.  I have worked on gas stuff outside of the Lil Critter because I feel there is no chance of hurting a person or causing an explosion outside.

Please do not hold a failure of everyone to answer your post with a bunch of "I don't knows" as being a slight to you.

I am looking forward to your sharing with all of us the conclusion of your project.  I for one only use the cooktop to heat water for my instant coffee and tea which I could just as well do in the microwave.  I had not considered removing the thing.  Now you have gone and gotten my head working on getting another mod done on the poor Lil Critter who has been probably modified more than most other Scamps.  Hummm I thought this 83 year old had thought of everything.

Welcome to this group of dedicated Scamp Owners.

Bob D.  Who is currently about 3/4s of the way thru an 8,000 mile Scamp-about.

Thank you Bob D.!

Hello Bob,thank you for the reply, so cool that you are out on an adventure! I hope to be doing the same once I get my scamper where I want it to be. I plan on doing several modifications including the stove removal and I want to install an outdoor shower setup. I do 99% of my cooking and outdoors so I really don't need the indoor cook top. I may put al small microwave on top of the wooden platform I will be making to cover the area where the stove was. I'll send you updates as I proceed. Best wishes to you for a fun and safe trip! Pat

There are two very active and vibrant Facebook groups you may want to join: "Scamp Travel Trailers" and "Scamp Owners of America".  I've learned so much there.

Future

We plan on eventually replacing the rubber hosing with something more durable, but that's way in the future.  I am confident, buy my beloved isn't sure she wants me working on gas fittings  :)
