What Trailer(s) have you had

Could be an interesting topic to see how folks made their journey to their current trailer.

I spent about 35 years backpacking/tent camping before getting into Molded Fiberglass Travel Trailers.

Here is the medley of trailers we've had in the last 15 years, from left to right; 1981 Scamp 13, 2005 29 Bunk House Trail Cruiser (two years on the dark side), 2005 Escape 17b, 1996 Scamp 13, 1997 Scamp 19(current), and 2015 Escape 19(current)

What Trailer(s) Have You Had

We have had a few tents and still camp that way when dictated by the off-road terrain, then a 1971 VW Westphalia  We started trailer camping with an Apache tent trailer, then a Sears tent trailer, Scamp 13 Standard for 10 years, a  25' Toyhauler, a 13' Scamp Deluxe, then our current 17' Lil Snoozy.

Easy answer also...

2005 13' Scamp.  Picked up from her birth place in Backus, MN 11/18/05  (7 days after we retired).

She is serving us well...does exactly what we demand of her...she lets us see the small roads/towns in U.S.A. and Canada.  So far she has rolled her little axle over 268,000 miles of roads and sheltered us for almost 4 years of nights (lacking 10 nights to break the 4 year mark).  We live in her for about two months at a time.  Then Bevie has to go home and touch her house and get ready for the next Scamp-about.  Haven't been able to convince Bevie that we ought to become full timers...har!

First Trailer

We tent camped with our kids for years. When they flew the nest we camped in the back of a pick-up truck with just a cap. In 2015 we were able to buy our new 13 Scamp. So far we have made two 5,000 mile trips to Florida, (our grand kids live there). This summer we just got home from a 8,000+ mile trip to visit my brother in Montana and visit six of our beautiful national parks. We also have done several short trips here in Maine. Our Scamp has been just great!

2 Years in...

After two years I still have the same Scamp.  I have considered getting one with a bath/shower and A/C, and may buy one if I get the chance, but for now I just added a different tow vehicle.

After 44 years(!), we still

After 44 years(!), we still have the same 13' SCAMP.  Along the way, we also owned a 32' 5th wheel for ca. 10 years.  But we could never part with the SCAMP; she's part of our family!

Working up to a SCAMP

I’ve traveled and tent camped, car camped, pickup camped with a top on the truck. Then I got a 23’ Prowler travel trailer that started things. I then upgraded to a Jayco 5th wheel (pictured) and F350 truck. I had planned on a new Montana when the heat got to me while setting up in Iowa and I decided to downsize. I had camped next to a friends’ 13’ (also pictured) and then borrowed a 13’ from my sister. That did it! I did not think I could downsize to a 13’ so ordered a 16’ and love it. I been down many roads that could not have handled the Jayco safely.

13ft Scamp Bunk Bed Option

I backpacked a little bit when I was younger, then had a pickup with a shell on it for camping, then went in for car and tent camping and for the last four years I've had my 13 ft Scamp with the bunk bed option. I just today emailed Scamp and asked for a price list on a deluxe 19ftr. I love my 13ft and may keep her but I'm also thinking of longer trips where I might have friends or family fly out and join me for awhile and I'm wondering if the 19ft might be better for that. Right now more of my trips are with just the dog and the cat but sometimes it's with daughter, granddaughter, dog and cat -- we all fit but it's tight! ( - ;

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,
Sue
