Scamp Sewer Hose Carrier replacement

I have a 2009 16' Scamp trailer.

The Sewer Hose Carrier on the front broke off.  I have a new 26" one from the Scamp Parts Store.

The problem is the new one is straight, and the front of the Scamp where the Sewer Carrier is curved.  So there is 1/2" space on each end.

The Scamp Parts Store offers 11/16" rivets for the Carrier, that I ordered.  However, the Sewer Carrier has 1/4" thick legs, and I read the fiberglass is 1/4"-1/2" thick.  With the space due to the straight Sewer Carrier (1/2" each end) and curved Scamp fiberglass, those rivets won't be long enough.  Should I use rivets 1 1/4" long?  (1/4" for Carrier legs+1/2" for fiberglass thickness +1/2" for space).

Has anyone else has a Sewer Hose Carrier break off?

How thick is the front Fiberglass on a 16' Scamp?

I searched this forum, didn't find an answer to these questions.

Sewer hose

I have a Scamp 19, the curvature of the front is the same as the 16. Did they use some spacers under the supports where they were attached to the front? That is what I would be looking for.

However, a better way is to get a 5x5 inch fence post sleeve (vinyl) at Home Depot and mount the hose underneath. That way you can even use a longer hose and do not have to squeeze is so much.

Or, what I did was cut the hose carrier in half and made it long by extending it by means of a white drain pipe. The two pieces of the original serve as supports. Otherwise you have to find another way to close the ends.

Sewer hose attachment

Thanks.  I like the idea of longer hose attachment underneath.  Where did you put it?  How is it attached?

For the shorter Sewer Hose Container - I used a Dremel to cut off the old rivet, drilled the remainder out, used two ACE Hardware rubber pads (#51636), fixed with aluminum pop rivets 3/16" X 1 1/4" Dome Head Blind Rivets, 6-20 with gap of 1.126-1.250 from Fastenere.  See picture below.  The rivets suggested in the Scamp instructions are size 68 and would be fine for the original Sewer Hose Carrier, though the replacement Carrier is not curved, and longer rivets with spacers were needed to adjust for the curve.

Perhaps useful.

Sewer Hose Carrier

Should have asked Scamp first.  Here is their reply.

Thanks for the input. We attach the hose carrier to one side then gently bend the tubing to meet the body on the other side. Installing in this way requires the shorter rivets. We use putty tape between the mount and body.

Slinky sewer hose holder

I mounted it under the frame that supports the battery and the two propane tanks, using steel hose clamps. My 19D has enough clearance, since it has the 3 inch lift from the factory.

On Edit: The holder is as long as the Scamp is wide and iIf I remember correctly, I bought the ten foot (stretched) stinky slinky. Anyway, it is the next size up from the factory supplied one.

Vinyl post for sewer hose.

I did not want the hose on the RV so mounted mine under the back bumper of the F150. Made from a 5 inch vinyl post it is also a mud flap.

Carrier under trailer

My new 13' has the hose carrier mounted under the trailer behind the outlet for the gray water tank. Fits well there. Why they put in a short one, like 26", is beyond me. Pretty worthless. Saved them like $5 on a $16k trailer. Annoying. I'm planning to simply replace it with one that goes the full width of the trailer. And then put a real sewer hose in rather than the useless one they provided (and saved another few dollars).

So the new one is still very

So the new one is still very short? What a waste! I am picking up my trailer in a few weeks and I guess that will be the first mod I do; so that I can store a Camco hose with an elbow.
