First-timer looking for all your tips!

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2015 13ft Scamp with front bunks and no bathroom. I am super excited and starting to plan out the summer! This is a whole new world to me. Do you nice folks have any great tips that I should know? The Scamp manual is rather lacking in instruction. I think I have most of the basics down. A few things I am wondering about are:

1. What trailer brakes should I get?

2. I have a hand-pump sink--Any tips or tricks on using city water or the fresh water tank?

3. Has anyone found a proper sized sheet set to fit on the bunks?

Thanks for all your help! I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Kristyn

13' trailer brakes ??

Are you adding brakes to the Scamp? Some 13 's came with brakes and if not they should have the mounting plates for adding brakes. The brakes you buy will be decided by the axle you have.

If you already have brakes and are asking about a brake controller for your tow vehicle you will have many choices.

Reply with what you are driving and you will get several replies. ETRAILER.COM is one place to start if you are doing your own install.

Thanks for you reply!

Thanks for you reply!

I am looking to add trailer brakes because my Scamp doesn't have them. How do I find out which axle I have?

2015 13ft Scamp AXLE TYPE?

The axle would have had a label on it when new, It may still be legible.

Some one may reply here that knows what Scamp was using in 2015.

If all else fails you could give Scamp a call.

Your axle will need to have this square plate to mount the brake back plate on.

2015 Axle

This is a picture of the axle tag on our 2015 13ft. Scamp. No bath. I added brakes to this trailer and the square brake mounting plates were already there. You will have to run wiring from under the front bunk to each brake.

First things first

Wheee, I bet you are super excited to get rolling this summer!  First things first though, what are you towing with?  Depending on your TV, you may not need trailer brakes.  My Jeep is rated for 3500 lbs, and I tow my 13' safely without brakes.  You must have good tires and brakes on your TV first of all.  I have also read on this forum that some vehicles are not set up for braking systems to be added, or dealerships are reluctant to install a brake unit on some models/makes.  Check that out first before delving into the trailer brakes for the Scamp.
