You are correct that used prices are pretty ridiculous right now, sometimes selling for more than new.
With your impending surgeries, it might be good to get an order in so your in the queue and in line. It may work out well on the timeline. In the meantime, if you can locate an acceptable used one I'm sure the Scamp order can be canceled up until the build starts.
Just saw a listing for a "nearly new" 2021 Braxton Creek Bushwhacker Plus 15FK near me for what doesn't seem to be an unreasonable price. It's a teardrop, not a FG bathtub, so not exactly comparable, but it does seem to to be in the same weight and layout class as the Scamp 16. Anyone here have any experience with this line of campers, other thoughts about them, or know where there is a forum for them? Thanks.
It reminds me of the TAB. I don't have any experience with either other than knowing some TAB owners over the years, most of whom moved on to other trailers for various reasons.
The differences in durability, maintenance and resale moving to a stick built trailer from a molded fiberglass travel trailer is night and day, but depending on what your looking to do it may work for you.
I have bought and sold 5 molded fg trailers over the years, all for more than I purchased them for. My one stick built trailer I got for a song and two years later was not able to get even half what I paid for it. As long as you understand those things going in and it will serve your needs, then it might work.
