Near Backus?

Several people suggest staying near Backus for a couple of days when picking up a new scamp. We are due to get ours in late  July--where do you suggest that would be close enough to return for any issues?

bakus Camping

We stayed at Wldwedge golf & RV resort.  It is maybe 15 mies south of Bakus.  http://www.wildwedge.com/directions-and-maps.html

They had some pull thru sites which we liked as it was our first time with a trailer.  The lodge is located right next to it and was a good place to spend our night before picking up the Scamp.  We had no problems, but it was nice to know you were close to the Scamo factory in case you needed  assistance.

Enjoy your new camper!

Any new recommendations?.... We will pickup our 13' Scamp at the end of May.  We will have a long drive from Jacksonville, FL.

We picked our Scamp up last June and stayed at Ruttger's Pine Mountain Camping Resort for a few days to shake down the camper. Ruttgers is the closest campground to the factory in Backus. The people were very friendly and helpful with places to go and things to do. Bathrooms were clean. My only gripe was that the water and electric hookups were on the front side of our trailer instead of at the back at the site we rented, but not all sites were laid out that way. If you decide to stay at Ruttgers, insist on a site where the hook ups are on the back side of the trailer or have heavy duty extension cord and water hose to reach your hookups...You're going to have a ball driving from Jacksonville...smiley

Hi

Hi

we stayed at lost lake lodge near Brainerd and at Charles Lindbergh state park 70 miles south of Backus. Both good places

lost lake is a good spot to stay the night before and Lindbergh is a good first night stop
