Installing two Trojan T-105 on a Scamp 19'

I'm looking to install 2 T-105's on our 2011 Scamp 19'.  I want to keep the two 20# propane tanks and install two T-105's in battery boxes on top of each other in some kind of metal (welded?) support structure.  I've seen a couple pictures but none close-up enough to see construction detail.  Any clear pics or construction directions would be gratefully received.

installing two batteries

This is not exactly what you were looking for but it works well to carry two batteries and still keep two propane tanks. The modification was done before I bought the scamp so I don't have any construction details. It was wide enough to carry a generator when I bought it, but in order to clear a different tow rig, I had to trim it down a few inches. It works well to carry a tool box, extra gas can, two batteries and two propane tanks. The hinged gate is lockable for security. I hope this helps give you ideas. Let me know if you are interested and I will send more photos and measurements.

Two batteries

Thanks for the pictures Wayne.  It's an intriguing solution to the problem especially the ability to lock up the batteries.  I'll consider it carefully.  And thanks for the offer of measurements

Battery

I’ve got to go look at my 97 this weekend because this is what I first thought of as a dual battery solution. I’m wondering though if there would be room to go to a 30lb single propane tank and then put the two batteries on the existing platform with no modifications.

dual batteries

Thanks for the post Greg. I tried mounting a friend's 30# tank where the outermost 20# is; but the tank was slightly too tall, and the front fiberglass panel of the Scamp tilted it forward.  I saw one picture where the owner cut out part of the front tank/battery railing to allow a 30# tank to fit; not an option for me. Also I'm uncomfortable with only having 1 tank, having run out on one unexpectedly.  Another possibility might be a 20# tank and a 10# tank, but I'm not sure how I'd hold the different sized tanks in place.

Also envied the space an older '19 had with the propane bottles mounted on the outside of the front legs but I'm not sure about the safety of mounting them that way.

Final T-105 battery mounts

We eventually did get out two T-105 batteries mounted on our Scamp 19.  A snug fit, but it works.
