A happy story

It is always fun to meet delightful people, and I certainly did in helping a friend pick up a used Scamp from a private owner.  I would wish for everyone to have as great a time in their quest for a used Scamp!

Sometimes it takes a little village.  I found the ad, another friend called on the ad (the buyer works long hours), and I drove us down to IL to get it as Kerry does not yet have her dream TV.  A 2017 Scamp deluxe 16', with nearly all options and some great mods.  A Cadillac Scamp!  It makes mine look like a Model T, and Kerry's old Scamp is a Amish buggy by comparison.  Such nice people to deal with, and the Scamp was meticulously cared for--sadly, it just didn't work out for them.  At any rate, we made the 6 hour trip down, and Sandy greeted us with quiche and scones in the oven baking!  It only got better from there.  Jeff went through all the trailer features, had paperwork for everything, and showed off all the very cool and thoughtful mods he had done.  It even had cute custom curtains and a cut-to-fit foam mattress!  It was a looooong, hot trip in 95 degree weather--19 hours total but we made it home safely.

One sour note, and it wasn't either party's fault.  Kerry had a cashier's check made up at her bank, and Jeff even took the time to check with his bank the day before to ensure a smooth transaction.  Both banks balked/dragged their feet and it took an hour for a five minute transaction!  I know there is a lot of fraud/identity theft going on, but this was ridiculous.  Something to think about for anyone selling or buying a used Scamp.  I don't know if a bank-to-bank wire transfer would have been smoother either.  We certainly weren't going to drive 350 miles with that kind of cash!

Happy Scamping!

Great story and we traveled

Great story and we traveled from the St. Louis area to South Carolina to get our Scamp! It was so worth it, a dream 16 ft. Scamp in meticulous condition. Long drives are certainly worth it for a clean Scamp.
