About to grease the bearings for the first time. I've never done this before (newbie!), so any and all tips would be greatly appreciated. We have Lippert according to the cap.
I saw Scamp's video saying to use a jack and not the levelers, and know from other videos to chock the opposite tire.
What about the grease?
- I asked Scamp Trailers about grease months back, and they said, "The brand we use is MAG1 Lithium Grease. You can use just about any type of lithium grease for bearings but we prefer MAG1."
- Internet sources have said any kind of Lithium-complex grease.
I went to the MAG1 website, and they have multi-purpose as well as for bearings. Also, the lithium grease I picked up from Ace is black (Lubri-Matic Multi-Purpose Lithium Grease), but videos show purple and red grease. Thoughts? Should I get grease specifically for wheel bearings?
What about actual steps? (prepping the trailer, removing the cap, applying grease, cleanup, and capping) Any "watch out for" things?

Saw 2 posts: one on taking everything apart and repacking the bearings, and the other on frequency (it did mention red grease!).
I went out earlier this morning and got red grease specifically for wheel bearings. About to go out and get started, and am assuming I should lift the stabilizers before I jack up one side. I have a screw driver, gloves, wipes, and something to dump the old grease on. So glad the grease gun came with detailed instructions (seems most things assume you've done it since you were 10 and skimp on specifics)!
I think you have super lube hubs if you want to inspect the hubs and bearings you need to take them apart. However, being that new they may not need it. Just pump in new grease as in this video. If you are going to take them apart and pack them,install new seals and it's faster to use a bearing packer.

Yes, you hit the nail on the head. My intent was to just freshen up the grease inside.
I didn't have one of those fancy grease guns, so I used two hands to pump in the grease, then rotated the wheel a bit before pumping again. Pump-rotate, pump-rotate. I pumped in grease until it seemed all the old had come out.
And yes, the inside of that metal rim IS sharp. Like a can of Planter's Peanuts. I made a wrong move and it sliced through my nitrile gloves into my index finger.
I checked out the video link, and that's pretty much how it looked! For any other newbies, the cap is rubber and takes some encouragement to get out and get back in. My jack is a short hydraulic piston and I used some boards underneath to lift it up towards the frame. Shove the connector straight on until it clicks into place. When I was done, I moved the gun from in line a bit to the side before pulling it off. I used a screwdriver and paper towels to remove the grease that oozed out, but a cloth rag would be better.
So we're almost all dressed up here in California, and looking forward to when we have a place to go!
