Attaching a lightweight awning without an awning rail

Hi!

We are thinking of purchasing a Kelty Carport awning but don't have an awning rail.  Does anyone know of any exterior clamps that would work to hold a lightweight awning?  Suction cup mountings? I'd prefer not to drill into our Scamp.    Thanks for the help!

Kelty Carport

Hi Becki and Welcome!

I've seen this done with the Kelty Carport using bungee cords over the top of the camper and securing with stakes or some such on the drivers side.  The EZ-Up type setups are very popular if they don't attach to the camper.  Just remember the awning has to be able to come down quickly especially out here in the Western US where 15 min can go from calm to gale force winds.

I've had the EZ-UP, and bag awning both with Scamp 13's, but right now we're letting the trailer act as the awning and just moving our chairs around it as the angle changes.  blush  Of course, in the AZ summer we don't camp under 7000 feet with lot's of trees.

Thanks Greg!  We got two

Thanks Greg!  We got two suction cup clamps (used to move heavy furniture) and am hoping they will work well.
