Buddy portable propane heater safe in Scamp?

Being we decided not to pay $500 for Scamp's loud propane heater we are wondering if the $69 Mr Heater Portable Buddy heater is safe for inside the Scamp at night while sleeping?  It has a low setting of 4,000 btu and high at 9,000btu.  The maker does say its indoor safe, but we are wondering what your experience is with  them?  Do you leave your big tank indoors or run a hose out the window for safety? The little green 1lb Coleman tanks run out quickly and are costly, so we are wondering if the big 20lb tank is ok ?   Thanks

Sleeping With Mr Buddy

For Safety's sake, you should have adequate fresh air entering any space where the Mr. Buddy Heater is being used.

Your Carbon Monoxide detector will not protect you from a "LOW OXYGEN" situation (which can easily happen with an open flame inside a small space [ like a Scamp ]).

I would have no problem with using a Mr Buddy Heater in the evening while I was still awake (with adequate ventilation of course).

However, I would NOT consider sleeping with the Mr Buddy Heater operational, I feel that the risk is just TOO GREAT !!!

Perhaps using the Mr Buddy just before bedtime and very good sleeping bags is your answer.

In reference to using the 20 lb Propane tank; you could run a hose through the window, or you could run a hose, with a "quick disconnect", through the flooring or behind a cabinet for a more permanent solution.

Check out the You Tube Channel: " Love Your RV " for his recent review of the updates made to his RV and see how he installed his Mr Buddy Heater with the "quick disconnect" hose.

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

Lil Buddy

We used a cube heater in our 13 when we had hookups and the lil buddy when boondocking. As long as you kept windows cracked and vent open it was fine. One thing though is that it really upped the condensation issue. Some of the catalytic heaters I heard were better choices than the lil buddy, but others here may know more about those options.
