Door handles

Trying to replace inside and outside door handles. Can't get the old ones off. Is there a trick?

No Trick

Outside handle remove two screws handle and shaft pulls straight out. Inside handle remove approx 4-8 screws around the perimeter (depends on how many PO's have left you) and pull off from fur or hide.

You might encounter a bit of corrosion given the age of ur Scamp that could be causing the shaft to be sticking. Just have to work it loose if that is the case.

Finally had to cut it off.

Finally had to cut it off. Was not able to get the shaft to budge. Now I need larger screws or lock tight because the holes are stripped. Also, New strike plate appears to be much larger and holes don't line up.

Close-up pictures of what you are facing would sure help others in figuring out what's going on... Everything Scamp does is custom, its not always the same from camper to camper...

Same problem as dhelgeson

I'm also attempting to remove my door handle and am also finding the shaft is fused to the inner body.  I've tried penetrating oil for weeks.  With all the screws removed, I've been hammering on the end of the shaft from the inside in hopes of freeing it.  No dice.  Dhelgeson, I've been considering "cutting it off" like you did.  Did you cut apart the inside body?  How did you do it?  Anyone else have this problem?  Thanks
