I am diligently shopping for 16' w/bath, ac, etc. which seem to be in short supply while 17's appear to be more plentiful. Our use will be on the move (avoiding interstate as much as possible) every couple days or so with one destination stop for 2 months. Tow vehicle is Dodge Ram 1500 v8 w/ factory tow package. I understand there is a difference in towing economy, but can anyone give me a feel for the difference in handling, parking, set-up etc. My only point of reference is sailboats where 25 to 28' is substantial 2x to 3x. We are both seniors w/ one being senior+ and this is our first venture from 28 'motor home to towed. Your information will be appreciated.

You can tow any of the Scamp trailers with a Dodge Ram V8 with no issues. You won't even know it's back there. Scamp only has a 13, 16 or 19 no 17. Casita currently has a 13, 16, 17. Escape has a 17, 19, 21, and 5th wheel. All of these would work for you and be a very pleasant experience towing.

I can't imagine you'd notice the difference between a 16' vs a 17' trailer. Find one you like and get going!!
We tow a 19' fifth wheel Scamp with a Dodge 1500 and love the way it handles.

The tongue weight on a S-16 will be 250-300 lbs. and the C-17 TW will be 400-450 lbs. I have towed both with a Nissan Frontier and I got about 1 mpg mileage better towing the Scamp. Because of the C-17 tongue weight a lot of people use WDH with that trailer.

Charliea,I can only say that we tow a 16ft 2015 Casita with a bath and dont even know its back there,We tow with a Ford F150...You should have no problem towing whatever you get with your Ram
