Curtain Q

Hi all,

My very talented wife has made some amazing curtains for our unit.

The issue is that the drapes stand away form the wall because the units windows are not completely verticle.

Please give me your thoughts on how you have handled this issue.

Pics please.

Thanks,

I remember on our 81 Scamp

I remember on our 81 Scamp the curtains we felt were always way too short.  We bought blackout curtain panels from Bed n Bath and used a glue gun rather than sewing to reseam the bottom edge.  Took five minutes to glue and the glue is still intact today.  We made all the curtains extra long so never had a need to do anything with the bottom to close it.

We did the same on the cellular-cordless blinds we ordered for the Escape.  I ordered them with lots extra width and height to make sure they completely cover.

I've seen some people use the velcro to seal the bottom of the curtains, but that requires a velcro tab attachment that stays visible on the wall when curtains are open.

Curtains

Yes the curtains are to short. Can't be sure they were stock curtains. Bought material , had sister sew new ones, long enough to double rod them top and bottom. Closed they cover the total window.

In the bathroom/ shower area. The frame was a wreck. I took off what was there and rebuilt the frame in and out. I decided I didn't need the door and put up a shower curtain to cover openning. In my case less weight, and the only person who would be with me would be someone that I would not need the door.

I also made a brand new table which came out much nicer than the one that was in there. Once again not knowing wether it was original. I do just love working on my scamp.

My bride made some real neat

My bride made some real neat curtains too, they came out great. She sewed right over the original panel, so that sun would not rot the over fabric.

I had not learned that the home button must be at the right when I take pictures with my mini iPad. Will try again some day soon.

The curtains are short for a reason - otherwise when you sit at the table your back would pull down on the curtains and you end up pulling the rod hooks out of the wall.

I believe that there would be a market for someone who can sew - to make (sew) custom curtains for us scamp owners as the ones that come with it are not attractive at all.   My wife is not handy like that so we are stuck with what we have.

Check out JoAnn's

I would bet if you took your existing curtains into a fabric shop they may have an employee or an associate who does sewing "homework" on the side.  I don't sew either, but a friend had a neighbor who takes on projects, and she did my curtains and slipcovers for a very reasonable price.  The curtains are about an easy a project as they could ask for, and you have a pattern for them!

Quick and easy curtains

We developed a trick for making new Scamp curtains many years back. Go get sets of Black out curtain panels from Bed bath, Walmart or some such and a glue gun. The panels will have a rod pocket on both ends so the panel can be cut in half and each half can be used to size and cut for new curtains. The unseamed cuts can quickly be seamed with the glue gun and they last forever. No sewing, and fast.

In our new trailer, we even did a new shower curtain with this method. Bought a cool shower curtain panel, cut the length to size and glued gunned the bottom seam. Still going strong.
