KING Jack antenna installation...

I should have ordered my 2015 SCAMP 13er with the antenna installed...  I got just about EVERYTHING else!  LOL  Now I see the need for getting an antenna and installing it myself.  I called SCAMP and they recommended having an RV place do the installation.

Has anyone installed this KING Jack antenna themselves?  I am concerned about the not so level and flat SCAMP roof line.

Enjoy your day...

King Jack

I installed a Jack on a Casita. The roof arch is not too big a deal. You will need to order a RF Micro cable to aid in routing your RF cable. The antenna is made to route the RF cable across the top of the roof but most people run the RF cable into the trailer under the antenna base. The other  issue is the rotator shaft will have to be cut off  about an inch but no big deal. The Jack is a very good choice for an antenna.

Option for antenna

Recently there has been some talk about adding an antenna to the Scamp. I had some credit at Camping World and thought I'd give the Winegard Rayzar a try.

I bought the RV-RZ85 model which is the Amplified version. Camping World price about 70 bucks. It is a flat, paper thin plastic antenna about one foot square and it comes with a 15' coaxial cable, a usb cable and  110v and 12v adapters.

All you do is hang the antenna on a window with the supplied suction cups and plug it in to the tv and a power source.

Antenna hung on side window.

The results, I think are pretty good. I hooked it up in the driveway and did a channel scan and got 15 channels. The quality of the pictures were good and there were plenty of options.

That is a shot of a commercial on the ION channel.

I think this antenna is a good alternative and I am very happy with my results.

Are you ready to drill a 2-3

Are you ready to drill a 2-3 inch hole in the roof of your Scamp, then remove or pull away some rat fur and trim? I would not wish to do this myself. When at the factory I had them install the Kings antenna, which rotates and is powered. It requires a out let that must be turned on to power the antenna. The factory folks did a fine job of installing it, but again, they were factory folks. For me, I am glad the factory folks installed my Kings antenna.
