Hey - does anyone know the approximate weight of a Scamp 5th Wheel Hitch (current model)?

Thanks!

2500 to 3000

2500 to 3000 or so depending on options, if it's a Deluxe, etc...

hitch weight

I'm not 100% sure what weight you are requesting so I'll throw out several numbers and hope I answer your question.

The hitch itself is 60 lbs. This is the piece that can be removed from the truck bed. It also has two rails that add maybe 20 lbs.

The tongue weight of the trailer is 400-450 lbs.

As hoosier scamp posted the weight of the trailer itself is2500-3000. Mine is the deluxe model and is closer to the 3000 lb mark.

hitch weight

wls53,

It is the weight of the hitch itself that I'm trying to find out about. The 'current' version which consists of an A frame piece at each end and the horizontal platform/plate that the ball is attached to.  I would have thought all of that would have exceeded 60 pounds.  Thanks for your prompt response!

Hitch weight

I suspect that 60 lbs is very close. I have no reason to have weighed mine as I can still lift it.

I weighed mine and also came

I weighed mine and also came up with 60 lbs. and I also feel as long as I can lift it to the truck bed, it is just exercise. It is designed for the 16,000 lbs., or so, 5th wheels. I have an idea for one that would weigh less  than 30 lbs., fixed height and it would be plenty good for the Scamp. I am waiting to see how long I can deal with the 60 pounder before I get back to work on it and pay a shop to weld one for me. I would not mind if Scamp came up with a light weight hitch, but I am sure they do not sell enough of the 5th wheels to make business sense.
